Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th, 1991. She is an American musician and singer. She was the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox released her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued uploading her music online including her self-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat released on the 21st of July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to perform on Rihanna references. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. The singer appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening performance. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was then followed by a short video in September. She released her second single Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then released two more singles called The No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured with Cole on her Creed II sound track on November 16. A music video was released on February 20, 2019 to accompany the track. Within the first time, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 views. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
